FRIDAY night’s horse racing at Wolverhampton has been called off due to heavy overnight snowfall.
Wolves Races called for a bizarre second course inspection at 11:30 am, despite nearly four inches of snow visibly covering the track.
In a statement on X, Wolves Races wrote: “Despite efforts to turn the track around after overnight snowfall, unfortunately improvement has not been quick enough for racing this evening.
“We have therefore taken the decision to abandon tonight’s meeting. Ticket holders will be contacted within 24 hrs.”
Saturday’s headline cards at Warwick and Kempton also remain in the balance, with both tracks still frozen.
Storm Goretti has wreaked havoc on horse racing all over the country this week, with all racing wiped out on Monday.

Wednesday was also a blank day for British jumps action after the scheduled card at Leicester was cancelled due to a frozen track.
The Wolves racecourse is one of six UK venues which hosts races for the All-Weather Championships, a tournament created to raise the profile of winter racing.
In 1993, the iconic venue made history by becoming the first UK track to stage evening horse races under the floodlights.
Racing fans have expressed their disappointment at the news.
