In the video he said: “Here I am getting searched by the police, because they think I have got fake money on me.

“I have done nothing wrong. I am just letting you know. It is part of the UK.”

The former Sergeant Major said the incident happened a few years ago – but he shared it after it happened AGAIN.

In his caption he fumed: “Police need to target with intelligence and not just appearance.”

Melvyn, 60, insisted he supported police but demanded cops get better “training and tactics”.

The video shows cops from the City of London wearing distinctive red and white chequered head bands.

In a post to 80,000 followers Melvyn said: “A few years ago I got completely humiliated by five police officers in London because I had a legitimate £50 note on me trying to buy my wife something.

“I was totally humiliated getting searched in front of a shop full of people but once the police saw a military I.D they stopped immediately & the police Sgt actually admitted they knew from the start it was a legitimate £50 note.”

Mixed race Melvyn, who has a black Jamaican dad and a white English mum, has revealed he faced racist abuse growing up in Stoke.

He joined the Army at 16.

In his post he said: The police need to target with intelligence & not just appearance.

“I was never going to mention this but after recently being stopped again I have.

“I respect & back the military & law but definitely need to conduct correct training & tactics in my opinion.”

He ended the post with a black hand on face emoji, a shrug, a union jack and a salute.

Mr Downes has been approached for comment.
