Wayne Mardle called out over UK Open outfit as ITV darts presenter says ‘he’s let the side down’

WAYNE MARDLE has been called out for his fashion error at the UK Open.

The darts presenter was on punditry duty as Luke Littler went back-to-back at Minehead.

Mardle, 52, was pictured alongside his co-workers at the oche wearing a grey jacket and black trousers.

However, it was his choice of trainers that got people talking as he opted for black rather than white.

The problem becomes obvious when looking at the outfits of co-stars such as Pete Graves and Glen Durrant.

They were all wearing white trainers beside Alexa Rendell who wore black leather boots.

But in terms of the men’s outfits it meant that Mardle was left looking like the odd one out.

Graves saw the funny side of the gaffe after it was pointed out by a fan on social media.

He jokingly responded: “He’s let the side down there.”

Fans also poked fun at the former darts ace as they also responded.

One posted: “He has to be different.”

A second commented: “If he isn’t going to wear white trainers, then it’s a leopard print skirt and black boots.”

A third joked: “Because Wayne dressed his age.”

The tournament had plenty of drama as world no1 Littler retained the title as he roared to an 11-7 win over James Wade in the final.

The final was a repeat of the 2025 showpiece match in which Littler also won but by a bigger margin of 11-2.

Littler reached the final by coming through the quarter-final and semi-final clashes against Danny Noppert and Josh Rock.

In the semi-final, he watched as one checkout went freakishly wrong as one of his darts popped out of the board.

The teenager landed himself a prize money cheque worth £120,000 with his victory.

During the coverage of the event, broadcaster ITV were forced to apologise for rude chants aimed at Prime Minister Kier Starmer.
