Watch shocking moment linesman is knocked unconscious as angry fan throws SCOOTER at him

THIS is the shocking moment an amateur showdown in Turkey was abandoned – after the linesman was struck by a SCOOTER thrown from the crowd.

Darendespor and Hekimhan Belediyesi Girmanaspor were battling it out in the Malatya First Amateur League when the clash descended into chaos at the Darende District Stadium.

The hosts thought they had grabbed a late winner, only to see linesman Hakan Baskurt raise his flag for offside.

Darendespor players furiously surrounded the referee after the incident in the 87th minute.

And raging fans made it even more of a messy situation when they started tossing objects over the fence separating them from the pitch.

Among the missiles was a scooter, which hit Baskurt and briefly knocked him unconscious.

The blow also left the stunned official with a deep laceration above his eyebrow and he had to be guided to safety away from the football hooligans.

Baskurt received medical attention while Darendespor players attempted to calm their supporters.

The linesman was then taken to Darende Hulusi Efendi State Hospital, where he needed STITCHES.

And the shocking incident, which happened when the game was evenly poised at 1-1, resulted in the encounter being called off.

Footage of the scooter attack was captured on the phone of a fan in an adjacent stand.

The suspect was quickly found and taken into custody for questioning by the police.
