A STAR from the hit TV show Ted Lasso has been spotted at a pro club with fans left asking: “What on earth is happening?”
Cristo Fernandez – who plays Dani Rojas in the popular series – was snapped by a supporter on the sidelines as El Paso Locomotive took part in their final pre-season match.
The sighting of the actor, 35, got punters buzzing and looking for answers with a supporter ran club podcast giving an insight to what they know.
The Seriously Loco Soccer Pod wrote online: “We were expecting the club to say something first but we have it on good authority that he is likely signing with the club in a playing capacity.”
The response comes after a fan wrote online: “Danny Rojas is training with my local club! What on earth is happening!? Someone please share details.”
Another account said: “This is a crazy storyline in the USL Championship. Cristo Fernandez is likely signing with El Paso Locomotive. Yes, the actor who played Dani Rojas in Ted Lasso. Can’t wait to see how this one plays out.”

The club themselves are yet to formally announce his signature but it is a potential move that has got tongues wagging online.
El Paso Locomotive begin their new season this coming Saturday when they host Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC.

It’s then back to back away games against Monterey Bay FC and Sacramento Republic FC to round off March before a home game at the start of April against Las Vegas Lights FC.
At 15, Fernandez played for Guadalajara Estudiantes Tecos in the Mexican League.
However, a knee injury shattered his ambition to play professionally and he pursued acting and lived his dream on screen with fictional club AFC Richmond.
But two decades on he could be set to pull on his boots for real in the USL Championship and make his dreams come true.
