A SUPERMARKET giant is rolling out more than 70 new stores across the UK after snapping up former Amazon Fresh sites.
The major retail move will see dozens of sites rebranded and reopened, marking a huge expansion for the grocery chain.
Tesco said the new convenience shops will launch by March next year, after already opening 60 Tesco Express stores in 2025.
Five of the new sites are ex-Amazon Fresh branches in London – on Kensington High Street, in Hounslow, Moorgate, Aldgate East and Wembley – all set to reopen as Tesco Express stores before the summer.
Amazon shut its remaining 19 Fresh stores last September.
This comes after the company has shifted its focus back to its online business.

At the time, the US tech firm said five sites would be converted into Whole Foods stores.
Tesco already has more than 2,000 Express stores across the UK and Ireland, with further openings planned in Devon, Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland.
The retailer is also preparing to launch two larger Scottish stores in Pitlochry and Heartlands this year, following new superstores in Ripon and Harrogate late last year.
The move comes as supermarkets double down on convenience stores, with shoppers making fewer big weekly trips and opting for smaller, more frequent top-ups instead.
Nick Johnson, Tesco Group Property Director, said: “As one of the UK’s leading retailers, we support jobs and local economies up and down the UK, and as we grow our store network we’re delighted to have the opportunity to serve even more people, in even more communities.
“We are hugely excited about the year ahead and looking forward to meeting our customers where they are with great quality, exceptional value and brilliant customer service.”
