Rapper Young Bleed dead at 51 after suffering brain aneurysm as son reflects on ‘legend’ father

Rapper Young Bleed passed away at the age of 51 on Saturday after suffering from complications due to a brain aneurysm.

The music artist – who was born as Glenn Clifton Jr. – had been taken to the hospital only days earlier and was in the ICU on a ventilator, TMZ reported.

At the time, Tameka Long – the mother of their 10-year-old son – told the outlet that his brain aneurysm had been caused by internal bleeding.

The late star’s son Ty’Gee Ramon confirmed his father’s shock death in an emotional Instagram video on Monday – where he reflected on Young Bleed’s impact on the music industry and revealed he ‘gained his wings’ on November 1.

Ramon said that his father did not have ‘real health issues’ leading up to his death over the past weekend, but added the performer had high blood pressure which he took medication for.

Young Bleed had been known for hits such as How Ya Do That – which was included on the 1997 soundtrack for the film I’m Bout It.

In the clip shared by Ramon, he could be seen sitting on a couch as he told his followers and fans of his late father, ‘As of November 1st, my dad gained his wings.

‘This is a tough topic for me – not sure how it’s gonna go. But I am here to clear up a lot of false narratives.’

He added, ‘But I know with him being a legend worldwide, people are concerned for him, they wasn’t sure what they heard. So I’m here to confirm as his oldest child that he has gained his wings.’

Ramon then explained ‘what happened’ to the rapper and said, ‘So, my dad didn’t have no real health issues. These are just chapters in life.

‘And I hope after this video that people that have went through the same thing or going through grieving moments find peace in this video here.’

Young Bleed’s son expressed, ‘So, my dad – like most as you get in age – had high blood pressure. He’d take his medicine and you know, do what you do as a celebrity. So, not much.’

Late last month on October 25, the late rapper performed at The Cash Money vs No Limit VERZUZ event in Las Vegas.

His father also attended an after party ‘and that’s where you know, everything kind of spiked’ while Ramon also shared it had been ‘more of a natural thing that caused this to happen to him.’

Ramon explained that the rapper ‘collapsed’ and that his passing was due to ‘an aneurysm, a bleed to the brain.’

He later stated in the video, ‘Like I said, my dad was never in and out of hospitals and so, that’s the unfortunate thing about sickness.

‘A lot of times, specially men wise, we don’t really go to the hospital much. Something gotta be going wrong with us in order for us to go to the hospital.’

The eldest child of Young Bleed admitted he could ‘barely talk’ days earlier and explained there are things ‘you can’t prepare for.’

‘You know, I still don’t know how to take this. It’s still so unreal. You know, I love that guy. Everything that’s me is him. He taught me everything. Never treated me like I was a kid even when I was a kid. He always poured so much life into me.

‘So I’m gonna pick up the ball and continue from where he left off ’cause I’m gonna try – well I’m going to make sure his legacy stays alive and that’s through all of us.’

Towards the end of the clip, Ramon sent gratitude to the love he has received and gave a shout out to the doctors who had been by his father’s side.

Ramon confirmed that the late rapper had been a father to five children and also shared his plans to upload another video ‘to show tribute to my dad and to speak more about his legacy…’

Ramon later stated in the video, ‘Like I said, my dad was never in and out of hospitals and so, that’s the unfortunate thing about sickness’

Ramon stated that before his father’s death, the rapper had been ‘fighting’ and added ‘when he should have been gone, he wasn’t.’

In the caption of the post, he wrote: ‘Rip to the biggest legend I kno…. Young bleed!!! Love u Dad so much and will definitely miss u… but imma carry the torch from here I got u #youngbleed #mydad #myfather @therealyoungbleed.

‘I’m glad he went out in style!!!! One time fa the one time.’

Shortly after Young Bleed was hospitalized after his Las Vegas performance late last month, Tameka Long – also known as Madamm Meek – told TMZ that he was in the ICU on a ventilator after suffering from a brain aneurysm.

The late rapper’s mother has also launched a GoFundMe page to assist in the cost of medical and funeral expenses.

She had started the page when he had been hospitalized and admitted it was ‘completely unexpected and has turned our world upside down.’
