It looked a ridiculously difficult run for Newcastle but they’ve so far come through with flying colours.
Four away games on the spin at Tottenham, Aston Villa, Qarabag and Manchester City would’ve put the fear in a Toon support that has suffered plenty of heartache on the road this season.
But a 2-1 victory in the capital was followed by a 3-1 FA Cup victory at Villa to make it an excellent start to a tough period.
They now make the 5,000-mile round trip to Azerbaijan, looking to bring a result back to St James’ Park for the second leg.
They do so against a Qarabag side who enjoyed a very good league phase campaign, before losing 6-0 at Liverpool on matchday eight.
It doesn’t look as though they’ve recovered all that well from that, having won three of the next four domestic games by the odd goal, as well as being knocked out the Azerbaijan Cup in that period too.

Changes are expected for Newcastle but Eddie Howe can’t think too much about a trip to the Etihad at the weekend.
Injuries will hamper too many changes and they come here on a real high after the last two results and come to a Qarabag side not in particularly great form.
