A police officer, believed to be a man in his 20s has been stabbed in the leg during a violent confrontation with an offender in Sydney’s southwest.
The incident unfolded on Werombi Road in Grasmere, where emergency services rushed to the scene at around 5:30pm.
The weapon used is believed to be either a sword or a spear, which may have caused damage to his femoral artery.
Dramatic images from the scene show the officer being airlifted by ambulance helicopter to Liverpool Hospital.
He is reportedly in a stable condition.
Police remain at the location as the operation continues, with investigators working to establish the full circumstances surrounding the attack.
