A PENSIONER on holiday was allegedly lured to his death after arranging a meeting on a dating app.
The 84-year-old tourist was robbed and fatally injured during a violent struggle inside his Gran Canaria apartment in Maspalomas.
The elderly visitor had arrived on the island for a vacation when he decided one night in March to install the dating app and arrange a meeting.
But the man he contacted allegedly had a far darker plan.
The meeting turned fatal when the pensioner confronted the man, who supposedly attempted to steal his valuables
During the struggle, the suspect is accused of pushing the elderly tourist, who lost his balance, fell to the ground, and hit his head.

He died from the impact, according to information obtained by LA PROVINCIA/Diario de Las Palmas.
The alleged assailant fled the scene immediately after the fatal incident and went on the run.
He travelled to Tenerife, believing he would be safe.
But officers from the National Police Homicide Unit were already closing in after the body was discovered in Maspalomas.
Spain’s National Police have now arrested the suspected killer in Tenerife.
Investigators say he had downloaded the dating apps again while on the island and may have been planning to target more victims.
Detectives quickly uncovered the exchange of messages between the victim and the suspect, leading them to conclude he was a frequent user of social media and that this may not have been his first offence.
Officers discovered that the suspect had allegedly turned dating apps into a calculated way of targeting victims.
He would charm men online, arrange to meet them in person, and then rob them.
Investigators say he specifically targeted tourists because they were more likely to leave the islands without reporting the crimes.
In one case, he is believed to have stolen £17,400(€20,000) from a victim.
The investigation – which focused heavily on tracking activity across these types of apps – eventually led officers to Tenerife, where the suspect had been hiding.
Police managed to apprehend him before he could allegedly meet another potential victim.
The suspect is now in the custody of Spain’s National Police, who say the investigation is continuing until the case is fully resolved.
