A MASSIVE new indoor attraction with a tropical water park and ski slope has been given to go ahead to open in the UK.
First announced back in 2017, the Rhydycar West development will be near the town of Merthyr Tydfil in Wales.
And Councillors at Merthyr Tydfil Council have now given the green light for the project to go ahead.
Council leader Brent Carter called the project a “groundbreaking gamechanger,” adding it is “complementing the offerings of Bike Park Wales, Zip World and Rock UK-Climbing Centre.”
He continued: “This project will massively support and boost our economy and offer multiple opportunities for our future generations.”
The 575-acre site is situated on a former coal mine.

The new complex’s main pull is the indoor ski slope, which will be the biggest in the UK when built.
Stretching 400 metres long, it will become the GB training base for snow sports teams.
This will make the biggest in the UK, overtaking Manchester’s Chill Factore, which has a 180 metre slope, as well as one of the world’s biggest (which is currently found in Germany, stretching 640 metres).
Also at the complex will be an indoor tropical waterpark although little is currently known about this.
Previous plans have suggested artificial beaches as well as slides and pools will be inside the water attraction.
Other tropical waterparks in the UK currently include Waterworld in Staffordshire and Sandcastle Waterpark in Blackpool.
Indoor and outdoor activity centres will have zip wires, climbing walls, high rope courses and slides.
Finally, 30 woodland lodges will be on-site along with a 418-room hotel with co-working spaces and luxury spa.
Despite being given the go-ahead, it isn’t clear when the huge attraction could open.
However it was suggested it could take around two and a half years to build, taking it to mid-2028.
Ticket prices and hotel prices are also yet to be revealed.
It’s not the only major new holiday resort planning to open in the UK.
