Jimmy Kimmel’s late-night show was mysteriously canceled Thursday night at the last minute.
The episode was set to feature actor David Duchovny, Stanger Things star Joe Keery, and musical guest Madison Beer, who broke the news of the 11th-hour decision on social media.
No one at ABC has addressed the abrupt move, but LateNighter reported that it stemmed from ‘a personal matter.’
The October 28 episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live! aired in its place, leaving viewers confused and questioning the sudden switch.
The Daily Mail has contacted the network for comment.
Beer wrote on X at 6:33pm ET Thursday: ‘Due to unforeseen circumstances, @jimmykimmellive needed to reschedule my performance that was originally scheduled to air tonight to a later date.’
Jimmy Kimmel Live! typically films Monday through Thursday at 4:30pm PST and airs at 11:35pm ET.
A fan shared an email allegedly sent from show’s audience team apologizing for the move, but offering no clues as to what caused it.

‘Tonight’s episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live has been postponed. Apologies for any inconvenience,’ read the message, which posted to Kimmel’s unofficial subreddit.
‘Will [sic] will contact you to reschedule for a future taping. Thanks.’
Kimmel’s show was pulled from the air for several days in September after the host made controversial comments about Charlie Kirk’s alleged Killer.
The host criticized ‘the MAGA gang’ for ‘desperately trying to characterize’ the suspect ‘as anything other than one of them’ during his September 15 show.
He was reprimanded two days later by Federal Communications Commission boss Brendan Carr, and later that day Disney made the decision to suspend the show.
Kimmel returned to air on September 23.
This summer, the host attended anti-Trump protests and proudly publicized his attendance on social media.
During an interview on the We Can Do Hard Things podcast released on Thursday, Kimmel and his wife revealed that their son asked them if Trump got him suspended.

‘I think I said yes,’ Kimmel acknowledged.
‘We did. We actually both said yes at the exact same time,’ added his wife, Molly McNearney, who is the co-head writer and executive producer of Jimmy Kimmel Live!
Kimmel has rarely missed a show in his 22 years as an ABC host.
Last month, the network announced in advance that the show would take a week off and be replaced by reruns. Kimmel returned to air on October 27.
The host also took off an episode in May for the birth of his granddaughter.
He also took a week off in April 2017 following the birth of his son, Billy.
The child required emergency surgery after being diagnosed with severe heart defects. Kimmel shared a photo to Instagram with an update on the boy’s health in April, for his eighth birthday.
‘He is very healthy and strong thanks to the doctors, nurses, therapists, and staff at @ChildrensLA & @CedarsSinai and to those of you who have sent prayers, well wishes and donations through the years,’ Kimmel wrote.
Kimmel missed his first show in November 2007, to undergo an emergency appendectomy.
