MANCHESTER United defender Luke Shaw has been given the go-ahead to chop down a “dangerous” cherry tree at his £5million Cheshire mansion.
The England international wants to completely fell the 30ft troublesome tree to the ground to stop it falling into his kids’ play area.

His luxury seven-bed pad, which boasts a swimming pool and gym, lies in a designated conservation area but the tree is not protected by a preservation order.
There have been no objections from neighbours or the local council which means Shaw can now go ahead and chop it down.
Photos submitted as part of the application show a timber treehouse with swings and slide, and a trampoline built into the ground surrounded by astro turf.
Tree experts say works have been carried out to the moss-covered cherry in the past but it has now got a “cavity in the union”, making it dangerous.

Shaw, 30, has previously carried out tree works at his home including removing two snapped pine branches and cutting back a yew.
He bought the luxury pad eight years ago and was given the go-ahead to build a leisure suite complete with a 36x13ft swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna and bar.
But in 2021 he was caught offside by planners after building a huge 40x22ft summerhouse and games room – without planning permission.
He was then granted retrospective consent for the unauthorised 9ft-high structure after there were no objections from neighbours.
Officials said: “The proposal is acceptable in design terms and would not cause harm to the character and appearance of the conservation area.”
The 5,210 sq.ft pad also boasts a grand entrance hall, family room, bar, sunken fire pit and triple garage for his flash motors.
Shaw joined United in a £30million move from Southampton in 2014 and is currently Man Utd’s longest-serving player.
