A MAJOR motorway has been closed in both directions this morning after a police incident near Stansted Airport.
There is a temporary full closure on the M11 near the airport causing significant delays up to junction 13 on the southbound carriageway.
Lane two of the busy motorway remains closed until further notice, said Cambridgeshire Police.
Cops have warned that the closure will impact travel this morning.
The incident has sparked “significant delays” as rush hour gets underway on Thursday morning, said police.
Traffic cameras are showing long queues forming on the M11 following the police incident.
Motorists are already seen bumper to bumper as traffic slowed to a crawl.
The M11 is expected to remain closed for at least two hours according to National Highways.
A Cambridgeshire Police spokesperson said: “Please note due to a temporary full closure on the M11 near Stansted Airport, this is causing significant delays up to junction 13 on the southbound carriageway.
“Lane 2 remains closed until further notice which will likely affect journeys on the M11 this morning.”
