DRIVERS have been warned of travel chaos after an incident shut down a major motorway.
The M1 is currently closed while Derbyshire Police are responding to an incident.

Both directions of the major carriageway are closed within junction 29A near Staveley.
Traffic cam footage shows lengthy queues building up as cops respond to the incident.
Motorists have been urged to use alternative routes where possible, with National Highways reporting “severe congestion.”
Drivers are advised there are currently delays of at least 20 minutes in both directions.

National Highways posted on X: “Due to an ongoing @DerbysPolice
led incident, the #M1 is currently closed in both directions within J29A near #Staveley.
“#TrafficOfficers are on scene to assist with strategic closures on the approach with traffic being diverted via the exit and entry slip roads at this stage.”
