Love Island’s Jessy slams ‘mean girl’ claims from fans after Lucinda feud and says ‘my dad wasn’t telling me off’

LOVE Island’s Jessy Potts has hit back at being called a “mean girl” as she addressed her Lucinda feud.

Upon entering the All Stars villa as a bombshell a few weeks ago, Jessy clashed with Lucinda on multiple occasions – which led to some fan backlash.

The biggest fight came when she tried to tell Lucinda to “stop rage-baiting” and also “using a baby voice.”

But addressing her “mean girl” status on the Love Island: Morning After podcast, she said: “I think there’s been a lot of talk about mean girls which is not the case in the slightest.

“But I think that I just tried to talk to her (Lucinda) here and there and everyone was just so far moving on from it anyway.

“All the girls are over the drama because it had been going on for so long, so we’d all just kind of decided to just move on from it.”

Jessy also talked about the criticism she’d had from her dad during her call from home, which left left her upset.

It came after she talked to her father about the big argument she’d had with Lucinda, and said: “Did it look like I tried to get involved in something that wasn’ttoddo with me?”

Her dad, Matthew said: “Yep.”

He proceeded to feverishly nod his head as the star looked well and truly gobsmacked.

But addressing this, Jessy said: “But then when I had the conversation with my dad, I think that maybe it’s been perceived that he was trying to tell me off, and that he was like disappointed in me, which was not the case.

“I don’t think he was disappointed. If anything, he would say to me, ‘Good on you for standing up and saying your opinion.’

“I think he was just trying to give me a warning that it had looked like I was doing something.

“And it wasn’t my place to be doing so. He was never telling me off. And it’s a shame that it kind of got perceived in that way.

“Obviously, it’s not about public opinion and what people think about me, but I don’t like that not being myself and not showing who I am because I’m not a mean girl.

“I’m not a nasty person that’s trying to get involved in too much.

It comes after fans hit out at the Islander after she was dumped alongside Tommy on Friday.

They said her “good girl act” had slipped after she made some choice remarks about the fans who had voted her off.

Upon being told she and Tommy were being dumped from the island, her pal Belle had some words of wisdom for Jessy.

“You’ve been nothing but true to yourself mate and you should feel proud of yourself. If they can’t see it, we all have. We know what you are,” she said.

“Gullible bi***es.”

The comment left fans shocked, as many claimed Jessy had “dropped” her act, while others questioned why she was calling the public names.

“‘gullible bi***es’, oh Jessy has finally dropped her “nice girl” act,” wrote one viewer to X.

Another confused fan asked, “She calling us gullible?”

Meanwhile, after she was dumped from the villa. Jessy had a few things to say about her villa nemesis Lucinda.

During her exit interview with Love Island host Maya Jama, she brought up her rival and slammed her as “fake”.

The blonde bombshell said: “I didn’t go in there expecting to have an issue. I have had my reservations about Lucinda for a long time.

“I think she is a very fake person.”

Jessy added: ” I still don’t trust her and I don’t think I’m the only person who’ll come out here and say she’s not the person she’s trying to come across as.”
