INTER MILAN star Alessandro Bastoni and his wife Camilla Bresciani turned off comments on social media after suffering vile abuse following Italy’s World Cup heartbreak.
The Azzurri will be left out of the esteemed international competition for the third consecutive time after losing their play-off final against Bosnia & Herzegovina.
Bosnia defeated the Italian national team 4-1 on penalties after a 1-1 draw on Tuesday in Zenica.
Genarro Gattuso’s side opened the scoring after just 15 minutes with a fine finish by Moise Kean.
But the visitors’ momentum crumbled four minutes before half-time when Bastoni, 26, was sent off with a direct red card.
The hosts put together a dangerous counter-attack with Amar Memic who drove the ball towards Italy’s area with only goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma left to beat.

But Bastoni brought him down with a tackle from behind and the referee gave him his marching orders as he deemed Memic was denied a clear goalscoring opportunity.
Bosnia ultimately got their equaliser 11 minutes before full-time with Haris Tabakovic and went on to seal their place in the 2026 World Cup with a dominant display on penalties.
According to Corriere dello Sport, however, that wasn’t the end of Bastoni’s troubles as he received abusive messages across social media.
The same happened to his wife and mother of his child Camilla and so both of them were forced to turn off comments on their pages.
Only friends and family can now post under their photos and content.
The couple have a four-year-old daughter they named Azzurra.
Bastoni will now look to bounce back at Inter, who are top of the Serie A table and chasing the Scudetto with six points separating them from second-placed AC Milan.
