‘I’ll never understand it’ – Luke Littler’s ‘absolutely bizarre’ fan treatment leaves darts pundit baffled

LUKE LITTLER being booed and given abuse is “absolutely bizarre,” according to new darts pundit Jaackmaate.

The teen sensation was jeered in Newcastle and Glasgow and suffered crowd abuse at the World Championship as well as the World Cup.

But Littler, 19, should be celebrated not slaughtered according to YouTube star Jaackmaate who revealed today that his ‘Happy Hour’ podcast is sponsoring oche ace Scott Williams.

Jaackmaate said: “Luke being hurled abuse off the crowd is absolutely bizarre.

“Luke’s a man, but a young man, who has already changed the sport of darts in ways nobody could have ever predicted.

“He’s an asset to the sport and should be celebrated. I know he gives a bit back on socials, and that’s fine in either direction, when it’s friendly banter.

“But some of the stick he gets is too far. It’s a case of Tall Poppy syndrome at its finest.

“We build people up, want to see them win, and then try to cut them down when they make it? I’ll never understand it.”

Littler was back to his devastating best by winning the Poland Darts Open at the weekend and Jaackmaate admires The Nuke’s mentality.

He added: “Luke has been incredible since he came onto the scene at the end of 2023. A phenomenal player, who is a lovely bloke too.

“He’s not said or done much wrong at all in my opinion, except given it back a bit at times.

“He’s just soaked up all the media pressure and hype and almost won everything there is to win in darts, already.

“He’s captured the imagination of so many new fans and given the sport so many more eyeballs and popularity.

“It doesn’t sit right that he’s getting fan abuse and boos. He just doesn’t deserve it at all.

“We see it all the time in football especially. We get amazingly talented players, they get to the top and then everyone tries to knock them down.

“Down the years we’ve had football legends like Gazza and Rooney get stick whilst being at the top too, and it’s just a bit toxic.

“I’m sure he can handle whatever is thrown at him with the crowd.

“But it would be better if we backed him, not booed him.

“He represents England at the World Cup, so let’s get behind him like we do our national teams across all sports.

“He brings so much excitement to the sport. There’s an extra buzz when he’s on stage.

“You feel like something special is going to happen, he has that aura about him. We definitely don’t want to lose that feeling.”

Jaackmaate also believes that Littler will not be worried about results in the Premier League.

He added: “If anyone can turn a few bad weeks around, it’s this man. I don’t think he’s worried at all about the unusually poor start”

“It probably makes it a bit more of a motivation for him if he has a bigger challenge.

“People are already saying he’s under pressure. I don’t think he thinks like that.

“That’s absolute rubbish. He’ll laugh it off.

“It will just be a bigger challenge and he’ll go on some mad winning run just to make all the pundits look stupid!”
