ONE of the new UK casino games bursting onto the scene is the latest addition to the Immortal Romance franchise.

I’ve gone on record before as saying that I really enjoy the Immortal Romance games.

Currently, there are three slots that form the saga (Immortal Romance, Immortal Romance II and Immortal Romance: Vein of Gold).

However, a fourth game has now joined, the Breaking Dawn of the collection, you could say.

One of the most appealing aspects of these slot games is the continuing narrative that runs throughout.

In Immortal Romance and Immortal Romance II this comes in the form of profile pages about the four characters.

However, in a strange break from tradition, this unique storytelling element is missing from Stormcraft Studio’s Immortal Romance: Vein of Gold.

Perhaps they thought the narrative was developed enough that they wanted to focus on the game instead.

It was an odd decision as the backstories were what set this franchise apart.

Enter the new UK casino game: Sarah’s Secret Power Combo.

The readable chapters have been replaced with a 36 second video outlining the story so far.

It was incredibly exciting to see this new feature, especially as the voiceover begins “previously on Immortal Romance”, really leaning into the narrative element.

The only problem? The video never played.

I have tried on several occasions across multiple devices and I cannot get the video to play. The music sounds dramatic and I got a flash of Troy bursting through a window.

However, other than that, I’m in the dark as to where the story picks up.

It’s a shame as this was a completely unique choice that would already have cemented Sarah’s Secret Power Combo in my mind as the best of the franchise, before I even played!

So, where does this leave my first impression of this new UK casino game on Sun Vegas?

Well, it’s not a fang-tastic start. That being said, it is interesting to see that the gothic castle backdrop has been left behind and we are now in an enchanted grove.

The explanation for that is lost on me but it might have been to do with whatever happened in the video (I’ll stop being bitter soon, I promise).

Now, the eponymous Sarah is a flaming icon to the left of the play table. It’s a bold image that catches the eye and is another way that this latest helping of Immortal Romance seeks to set itself apart.

The music has also been rejuvenated. It’s the same tune but where it sounded sombre and eerie in the previous games, here it sounds faster and more lively, building a greater sense of excitement and anticipation.

Sarah’s Secret wild can substitute in for symbols and form winning lines.

Overall, there are up to 31 different bonus combinations. This is a very encouraging number of bonus elements, and the fact that they can appear as multiples and in a variety of combinations means that it’s possible to have different game play quite a few times over.   

Despite the game making it clear how the Mega jackpot can be triggered, it’s not immediately obvious how the Maxi, Minor or Mini can be won.

I assume that this is part of the bonus round but the instructions could be clearer as to how exactly these are activated.

There has been an obvious attempt to make this new UK casino game stand out, even from its fellow Immortal Romance slots.

Given that the video won’t play for me, it cannot be said to have been successfully executed.
