Graham Potter has cheeky theory about why Premier League clubs sign players from Sweden

GRAHAM POTTER joked Premier League clubs sign Swedish players for their good looks.

The former Chelsea, West Ham and Brighton boss is now in charge of the Swedish national team, having started his coaching career in the country.

There are seven Premier League players in Potter’s current Sweden squad

There are seven Premier League players in his current squad, with Dejan Kulusevski and Alexander Isak missing out through injury.

In total there are 12 Swedish players in the Premier League, spread across 11 different clubs.

Asked what Prem teams see in Swedish players, Potter – sitting alongside Aston Villa‘s Victor Lindelof – joked: “You can see they’re really good looking, huh? That’s one thing.

“I don’t know, it’s too difficult. I think it’s hard to pull everybody together under one thing. Everyone’s different.

“They all bring different qualities, the players we have in the Premier League. Of course, we’re happy with them.

“It’s not to say that there aren’t other players in other leagues, but they bring different things, different qualities. It’s hard to generalise. Apart from the fact that they are handsome!”

Potter’s side take on Poland in Stockholm on Tuesday night for a place at the World Cup this summer.

There are familiar faces on both sides – Arsenal‘s Viktor Gyokeres scorde a hat-trick to seal Sweden’s place in Tuesday’s final.

Lindelof, Newcastle’s Anthony Elanga, Brighton‘s Yasin Ayari and Leeds defender Gabriel Gudmundsson all started the semi-final in Valencia.
