FLOYD MAYWEATHER has announced plans to return to professional boxing after his proposed exhibition bout against Mike Tyson.
The American great officially retired in 2017 after beating UFC star Conor McGregor in round ten of their crossover clash.
But Mayweather – who walked away with a perfect 50-0 record – has continued to box in exhibitions against stars of the boxing, MMA and celebrity world.
His last came in August 2024 in Mexico against the grandson of notorious New York crime boss John Gotti.
Mayweather, 48, last year announced that he had signed a contract to fight Tyson, 59, in 2026.
The spectacle showdown – between a pair of legends with a combined age of 107 – is tentatively targeted for April in the Congo.
And Mayweather claims it will pave the way for another comeback – this time for real with his undefeated record to go on the line.
“I still have what it takes to set more records in the sport of boxing,” Mayweather said in a statement.
“From my upcoming Mike Tyson event to my next professional fight afterwards – no one will generate a bigger gate, have a larger global broadcast audience and generate more money with each event – then my events. And I plan to keep doing it.”
Tyson returned in 2020 after 15 years out of the ring for an eight-round exhibition against Roy Jones Jr – which ended in a draw.
He then fought again four years later, this time against YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul – who was 31 YEARS younger.
Paul, now 29, won on points in what was controversially sanctioned as a professional bout and streamed on Netflix.
Over 100 MILLION watched and sparked Netflix’s involvement with live boxing.
The streaming service were last year reported to have been interested in airing a rematch between Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao.
Pacquiao, 47, himself returned last July in a WBC welterweight world title fight, drawing to Mario Barrios, 30.
And the Filipino icon – beaten by Mayweather in 2015 – faces former world champ Ruslan Provodnikov in an April 18 Vegas exhibition.
