E4 HAS paid a touching tribute to MAFS Australia star Mel Schilling after her heartbreaking death was announced.

The show expert tragically died, aged 54, after a brave battle with colon cancer.

Mel was a much-loved dating coach, known for her invaluable work on both the Australian and UK versions of MAFS.

The network has publicly paid tribute to the legend in a statement before tonight’s episode aired.

They said: “Everyone at Channel 4 is hugely saddened by the news we’ve lost Mel Schilling.

“It was Mel and her family’s wish that we carry on showing Married At First Sight and celebrate her mission to help others find love and happiness.

MAFS’S Mel Schilling says she’s feeling ‘positive’ amid cancer battle

“Our thoughts are with Mel’s family and friends.”

Her husband Gareth announced the heartbreaking news today in an emotional Instagram post.

“Alongside touching pictures of Mel, he said: “Melanie Jane Brisbane-Schilling passed away peacefully today, surrounded by love.”

Gareth told how “life can be beautiful” but also “incredibly cruel” as he urged people to live life to the full to “honour Mel”.

This Morning’s Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley also remembered Mel during today’s show.

Cat said: “Mel from Married At First Sight sadly passed away at the age of 54 with a battle with cancer.”

Ben added: “She was so bright and colourful wasn’t she,” to which Cat replied: “Gorgeous.”

Mel was diagnosed with colon cancer back in December 2023 after a tumour the size of a lemon was discovered during a scan.

She was was given the devastating news after suffering severe stomach cramps while filming the Australian series of the romance show.

After an operation to remove the tumour, the telly legend told fans her cancer was in remission.

But, in late February 2024 during a routine scan, small nodules were discovered on her lungs.

Mel revealed earlier this month that her “light was slowly fading” as she told how the cancer had spread to the left side of her brain.

The mum-of-one said that despite subsequent radiotherapy sessions, her oncology team told her there was nothing further they could do.

Tributes to the late star have been pouring in.

Cast members of both the UK and Australian MAFS series have sent their well wishes.

April Banbury wrote: “So heartbreaking.

“Sending so much love and many prayers to you all during this time. Mel will always be remembered for the amazing strong woman she was. Rest in peace Mel.”

Leigh Harris said: “Sending you all so much love and healing. What a truly magical woman she was.”

Hannah Norburn commented: “Oh my heart breaks for all your family. What a gorgeous incredible woman you are. You will be so missed & so loved.”
