Danny Dyer set to star in The Celebrity Traitors in ‘dream signing’ after snubbing BBC offer for series 1

TELLY favourite Danny Dyer has been lined up for the second series of The Celebrity Traitors after turning it down last year.

The straight-talking Cockney, 48, changed his mind after watching the likes of Celia Imrie and eventual winner Alan Carr in series one.

“As soon as his tune changed, it was all systems go.”

Former EastEnders star Danny appeared in a parody sketch of The Traitors for Comic Relief in 2023 and was a target for last year’s first celebrity series but bosses were unable to sign him up.

Then in October, he revealed he was enjoying the celeb episodes — and the BBC rushed to lock him in.

Bosses will hope that if he agrees he will not pull out at the last minute like Daisy May Cooper last year, who did not want to be away from her young son.

The source added: “Danny is a reality TV booker’s dream signing and will be incredible value, as he’s naturally funny but in a totally different way to Alan Carr.

“Bosses don’t want to repeat the same formula and he’ll be absolute gold. As we saw with Daisy May Cooper for series one, things can change at the last minute, but Danny looks all set to join filming up in the Highlands later this year.”

Danny has already said that he would fancy becoming one of host Claudia Winkleman’s Traitors.

He said: “It’s quite a simple game. I thought it was too complicated but it’s actually just about people manipulating people and a lot of lying. If you’re a Faithful, it’s hard — you’re trying to overact that you’re a Faithful and it backfires on you.

“So if the money’s right, I might get involved in the next series. I think I’d want to be a Traitor, there’s triple bluffs, double bluffs — it’s more fun to be a Traitor, you’ve got a job.”

Other names rumoured for the next celebrity series include Alison Hammond and Ruth Jones — and there may be another shot for Daisy.
