Cops rush to aerodrome & search nearby fields after ‘object falls from sky’

EMERGENCY services have rushed to an airfield following reports of an object falling from the sky.

Officers descended on Headcorn Aerodrome in Kent at around 9am today.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing “an object” falling from the sky near the airstrip, which is known to be used for skydiving and parachuting activities.

Police and fire crews arrived at the scene in Maidstone, with reports of officers going through the nearby fields.

A Cessna 208B Grand Caravan plane was last seen on Flightradar leaving the grass strip at around 8.30am.

According to the flight-tracking site, it was the last plane to take off from the airfield and landed again at 9:24am.

No aircraft has taken off or landed from the site since the reported incident, according to Flightradar.

Headcorn Aerodrome is one of the last few remaining grass strip airfields in Kent.
