BOOKING a restaurant table is now easier than ever as Google launches a clever AI tool directly in search.
AI mode can now be used to make a reservation for you instantly and takes all your detailed requests, sorting everything from the sort of food you fancy to the party size.

It’s the first form of agentic AI used by Google in the UK, which goes beyond the usual powers of AI and can carry out tasks on your behalf.
Within the AI Mode on Google Search people can type out specific details.
For example, you can ask for a table for two at a dog friendly vegan restaurant tomorrow evening.
AI Mode will then come back with options you can select.

If it’s one of the thousands of restaurants that uses reserve with Google’s system, the AI will book it for you there and then, cutting out the need for you to do all the leg work in a separate web page.
It’ll also have all the live real-time information on time slot availability right there to see.
And for restaurants that aren’t integrated with Google’s reservation system, AI Mode will provide you with a link so you can go ahead with the booking manually instead.
Google stresses that users are always the one making the final decision, so you’ll ultimately have to hit the reservation button to finalise the booking.
The idea is one of many Google are planning to roll out that allow AI to do the leg for you when booking services.
Bosses are already working on future versions that let you reserve everything from a massage to concert tickets all within the single AI Mode screen.
The ability to book dinner tables has been available in the US for a while now.
But from today it’ll be visible to users in the UK, as well as Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, India, New Zealand, Singapore and South Africa.
