This is really not what Tottenham need right now.
Spurs head into the weekend just a single point outside the relegation zone and on the back of a 5-2 thumping in Spain in midweek, and now have to travel to Anfield on Sunday.
The London side are in genuine danger of dropping into the Championship following an utterly abysmal 2026, which has seen them fail to win any of their last 11 top-flight matches.
Tottenham have lost their last six on the bounce, conceding a total of 18 goals and shipping at least twice in every single one.
Pressure continues to mount on interim manager Igor Tudor, who is the odds-on favourite for the sack despite having managed just four games since replacing Thomas Frank in February.
So Liverpool should be in the driving seat to claim maximum points on Sunday and close the gap on either Aston Villa or Manchester United, who clash earlier in the day.
The Reds are currently in sixth spot on 48 points, level with Chelsea and three behind the Champions League qualification places with nine matches remaining, although fifth should be enough.
However, following an excellent run of four wins in five, Liverpool have wobbled after defeat to Wolves and a Champions League loss in Istanbul against Galatasaray in midweek.
Arne Slot will want his side to get back on track, which looks likely given Tottenham’s spiralling form and the fact Liverpool have won their last four against Spurs at Anfield, scoring four or more goals in each.
