Few would have marked this down as a significant clash at the start of the campaign, perhaps a London battle for a Europa League spot if you were feeling generous.
But now? It’s huge for Tottenham in their fight to avoid a catastrophic relegation.
Struggling Spurs arrive in 16th position, just four points above the drop zone, with ten games remaining. Igor Tudor’s arrival hasn’t sparked any meaningful change, with back-to-back defeats against arch-rivals Arsenal and Fulham.
They conceded six goals across those two games, and the loss at Craven Cottage marked Spurs’ fourth successive defeat, while they’ve shipped two or more goals in each of their last eight Premier League matches.
The damage wasn’t quite as bad as it could have been, with both West Ham and Nottingham Forest also losing, but Tudor and Co. will need to capitalise now ahead of an alarming schedule.
That schedule sees them play four crucial matches in 13 days, including two against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League, a trip to Anfield, and a six-pointer against Nottingham Forest before the international break.
Spurs have won 16 of their last 21 Premier League matches against Crystal Palace, with the Eagles the last side they actually beat in the division back in December 2025.
But Palace won this exact fixture last year, and Spurs have won just one of their last 13 home games in the Premier League, with Wolves the only side to have accumulated fewer points at home.
They are also winless in their last 12 midweek Premier League matches, drawing three and losing nine, since beating Brentford 3-2 in January 2024.
As for travelling Palace, things look slightly healthier after back-to-back wins against Wolves and Zrinjski, though that winning run ended at Old Trafford last weekend.
Oliver Glasner’s side have 35 points on the board and are likely only one win away from securing Premier League safety.
