The weather in the UK is set to stay around 12C this week, meanwhile according to BBC weather, Tangier will reach highs of 20C.

The city itself has plenty to see from a whitewashed medina to its busy souks, and landmarks like the Kasbah and the Caves of Hercules.

In fact, it’s believed that Tangier was created by the son of Hercules, with the god himself staying in one of the caves.

The city itself has a blend of cultures; African, French and Spanish.

It has a vibrant café culture thanks to its French influence, tapas culture from Spain – and a mix of languages too.

This is because the city was established as an International Zone in 1912, attracting both Americans and Europeans.

Any fan of afternoon tea should visit one of Tangier’s many tea terraces.

Although you won’t get an English breakfast blend, you can try one of Morocco‘s delicious mint teas which is served in a teapot and little glass cups.

Thanks to its position on the Northern coast of Morocco, Tangier is easily reached by ferry from Spain.

Ferries go from Tarifa to Tanger Ville Port in just one hour for £38.95 per passenger.

This is the closest port to Tangier’s centre so is ideal for those staying in the city.

Another route is from Algeciras to Tanger Med Port which takes one hour and 30 minutes and is priced at £30.10 per passenger.

Tanger Med Port is much further away though, and is around 25miles away.

However for Brits, flying is the easiest way to get to Tangier.

From the UK it takes just three hours and with Ryanair flights can be as little as £15 in April from London Gatwick.

The city doesn’t just have a port, it also has a beach and one of the most popular is Municipal Beach which looks across the Strait.

One visitor wrote on Tripadvisor they loved the views across the Strait of Gibraltar and the promenade’s lively cafés and restaurants.

Another added: “Amazing beach with clean sand and a perfect sunset.”
