A baby has been killed after being hit by a freight train near a regional town.
The one-year-old girl was hit at Baan Baa, near Narrabri, in northeastern New South Wales, on Friday evening.
Paramedics arrived at the scene at 7.50pm and treated the girl for serious injuries.
She was taken to hospital, where she later died.
Police were told the infant was walking along Baranbah Street when she was hit.
The train driver, a 22-year-old man, was taken to hospital for mandatory testing.
A crime scene has been established.
NSW Police said: ‘Officers attached to Oxley Police District were told the child was walking along the road before being clipped by the train.’
