Artemis II leaves the moon & heads back to Earth as Nasa craft will splashdown in just days after longest journey ever

THE Orion spacecraft has left the Moon’s “sphere of influence”, and is headed back to Earth, Nasa has announced.

The Artemis II crew have broken free of the area where the Moon’s gravitational pull is stronger than the Earth’s – and they will be home in just a few days.

They are expected to return on Friday April 10.

The daring astronauts yesterday broke the record for flying the furthest away from Earth than any human before, beating the Apollo 13 crew’s record of flying 248,655 miles from Earth in 1970.
