Are Coronation Street and Emmerdale on tonight? ITV schedule shake-up and when soaps are returning to our screens

When are Coronation Street and Emmerdale back on ITV?

Both Coronation Street and Emmerdale won’t be on live telly tonight due to a scheduling shake-up.

That’s mainly due to England hosting Japan in a friendly at Wembley Stadium from 7pm, coverage of which is being shown on ITV.

On Friday, March 27, a similar schedule switch happened when England played Uruguay in a forgettable draw.

The match saw the dramatic return to the squad of Ben White, who went from hero to villain – scoring the opener and giving away the penalty that led to the equaliser.

But to make up for tonight’s loss, room has been made for the two soap operas to air on Sunday.

Here’s the upcoming soap schedule on ITV:

  • Tonight (Tuesday, March 31): Both soaps are off due to England vs Japan coverage from 7pm.
  • Tomorrow (Wednesday, April 1): Both return to normal – Emmerdale at 8pm, Coronation Street at 8.30pm.
  • Thursday, April 2: Both on 30 minutes earlier than usual – Emmerdale at 7.30pm, Coronation Street at 8pm.
  • Friday, April 3 (Good Friday): Same earlier times – Emmerdale at 7.30pm, Coronation Street at 8pm.
  • Sunday, April 5 (Easter Sunday): Make-up episodes air – Emmerdale at 7pm, Coronation Street at 7.30pm.

Fortunately, from then onwards things appear to be returning to normal schedule-wise.

When are Coronation Street and Emmerdale usually on?

Both Corrie and Emmerdale can be watched on ITV1 and ITVX.

Usually the popular British soaps air from 8-9pm on weekdays.

Coronation Street is on at 8.30pm, with Emmerdale airing 30 minutes earlier at 8pm.

But occasionally a busy ITV schedule can cause delays.

It’s not the first time the two programmes’ schedule has been interrupted by sport this month.

On March 6, fans of the soaps were left annoyed when rugby took priority over their form of entertainment.
